Agreed, bit worrying that Bilic keeps persisting with him, he doesn't look good enough at this level, he does neither one thing or the other, he's not good defensively and loses the ball a lot going forward.

We signed Fonte 2 days before Van Dijk got injured so no mystery there just unlucky for them.

Buried the ghost of Wednesday night. I think somebody said, playing at the hotpoint is akin to playing at a neutral ground. The shackles are off away. It's no coincidence that the goons and the front wheels have both struggled at Wembley.

Feghouli was easily our weakest player today. I just can't see why he is playing, surely Fernandes offers more?

I don't understand why Bilic keeps playing him, he's a bench warmer at best. If we had lost today he would be getting a massive cunting tonight.

I thought Feghouli was pretty decent today. Superb cross for Carroll early on but after that he came inside a lot more just like Snodgrass on the other side, presumably following instructions. He wasn't always highly effective but certainly put in a shift. Anyone who thinks he is lazy based on that performance wasn't watching the same match as me.

Auckland... Van Dijk got injured after we signed Fonte. However I understand that Fonte was Bilic's first choice and the Board supported him. Unusual for us - the player really wanted to join us !

Re: ⚽ Southampton v West Ham - The Official Match Thread FT 1-3
A few things on today's game...

Firstly, we're the best of the sides around our level and will be safe from relegation without any worries.

Secondly, with van Dijk out injured, why on earth Southampton also let Fonte go is a mystery. That's the sort of thing that WE do, and they got exactly what they deserved, while we also got exactly what we deserved from signing him. He was solid, and his partnership with Reid looks like it could be a great foundation for us to build from going forward.

Carroll again made his presence felt. He popped up everywhere, and his delayed run for his goal was superb. Haven't heard anything about his substitution, but hopefully it's nothing serious?

Antonio looked out of sorts. Seemed a little weary, and not his usual all action self. Still able to put a burst on when he wanted too though.

Noble's free kick was perfect. Pinpoint. Just the right height and angle to make it awkward for everyone - the defender had to use his leg because it was lower than head/chest height, the keeper couldn't get there because of the pace it was whipped in at, and just the slightest touch was going to create havoc.

Lastly, Feghouli......the bloke can either trap a pass or make a pass, he doesn't seem to be able to do both very well. He runs around a fair bit, but doesn't seem to
run around in the right places, especially on defence, although I did see him get back and harried someone at one stage. Just the once though.

Good win.

TI ~ Perhaps I'm being a bit kind after such a good result!
I noticed Feghouli tracking back once or twice reasonably effectively in the 1st half, which I haven't seen him do before
I thought Snodgrass was a thorn in their side all afternoon with his robust closing down & constant effort. ~ a refreshing change from that lazy fat frog

A very effective Smash and Grab raid for our 3 points...

6 strikes...4 on target...3 goals...They had 21 attempts

As good as,Man City against us...

raging bull...

He loses the ball when in possession more than any other player I reckon...

Why was he always in the middle ...Bilic orders...or his stupidity...

He didn't give Kouyate much cover...

Re: ⚽ Southampton v West Ham - The Official Match Thread FT 1-3
A great result, well earned & several good performances
MOtM Obiang for me (scored 1 made 1 & a solid performance all round)
Reid was outstanding,
Snodgrass superb, never stopped working hard, neither did Carroll
Fonte good, Kouyate good, Feghouli good
Antonio average,Noble average
Cresswell poor by his standards
Randolph was solid enough when needed (which he wasn't much)
Collins & Lanzini were OK without being spectacular
Calleri put in a few nice touches. I get the impression he might just come good?
It was a funny game since even when we were 3-1 up you felt we could still manage to blow it right up until injury time
A great win but not always convincing

Feghouli's first season so you have to give him the benefit of the doubt.
